On September 8, Cuba celebrates its patron, at the Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de la Caridad (Feast of Our Lady of Charity). This festival is celebrated in many locations throughout Cuba, but the largest, and most official, is held in the Basílica Santuario Nacional de Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre (National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Charity of Copper), located in the municipality of El Cobre in the province of Santiago de Cuba. In this festival there is a procession of the "Cachita", as the Cubans affectionately call it, with songs, color and joy in the streets. In the Cuban war of independence, the soldiers of the Liberation Army entrusted themselves to her before going into the different battles, and it was in 1916 that she was declared the patron saint of Cuba. Do not hesitate to participate in this important Cuban celebration, and soak up its traditions and culture.
If you want to venture through the crystalline waters of Cuba, María la Gorda beach, in the province of Pinar del Río, offers you an incredible natural spectacle, since wonderful whale sharks approach the coast in September. You can get to know these impressive and harmless creatures up close at one of the 50 dive sites found there. In addition to enjoying the wonderful and colorful walls full of corals, there are long vertical walls and different caves and tunnels that will allow you to enjoy this adventure.

The rains also begin to lessen, and if you do find them, it will be at dead hours, either at dawn or when the sun begins to descend, so you can take advantage of the incredible 11 hours of natural light that Cuba offers you during this month.
