The Centro Cultural Casa del Che en La Cabaña (Che House Cultural Center at La Cabaña) cultural center is located in the first home occupied by El Che in 1959, when Fidel Castro ordered him to advance towards Santa Clara and occupy the area of La Cabaña in Havana.
This was the first home where El Che slept. When he arrived in this area, he took over the Headquarters of La Cabaña, working there and then resting and meeting with people in the house, where an office in which he used to meet the most important dignitaries is still preserved. Here, most of the essential aspects of the Revolution were discussed.
In the room, unpublished photographs are exhibited, taken of important figures such as Fidel Castro, Alberto Castellanos, Olo Pantoja, or Ramiro Valdés.
The house is now open to visits and distributed as follows: a portico and hall, a reception area, an office with objects from El Che, a photographic exhibition, a painting room, a workshop, a chess room with boards exhibited and a picture of El Che taking part in a “Capablanca in Memoriam” tournament; a protocol room with a cozy atmosphere for conferences and projections; an exhibition on the beverage mate, El Che’s favourite drink; a cafeteria and a souvenir store.
