Discover how to obtain your Visa and the other required documents to enter Cuba.

Here is a list of the documents you need to enter Cuba legally:

Passport:

The validity of the passport needs to be of, at least, six months since the flight date. You should keep your passport throughout your whole stay. Should you lose your passport, immediately notify immigration to obtain a copy (you have to pay for it).

Visado:

A Tourist Visa is one of the required documents to enter Cuba, unless you have Cuban residence. Airlines will verify that you do have a Visa before being allowed to board. The cost of a Visa is around 22€ for European citizens. In general, most travels bought through a travel agency will include a Visa valid for a 90 day period. The Visa allows you to stay in Cuba for 90 days that can be extended for another 90 “for leisure or recreation purposes”. You will not be able to abduce any other reason for staying.

Information for US Citizens:

As of the writing of this information, US citizens are required to obtain a license from the Cuban Assets Control Regulations of the U.S. Treasury Department before being involved in any transaction related to Cuba or travelling to Cuba. Such authorizations will not be given to US citizens who want to travel to Cuba for touristic reasons alone. This situation is expected to change given the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Washington and La Havana in 2015. You can check the website of the US Embassy in La Havana information in Tourism.

Since May 1st, 2010, it is required to have contracted a Health Insurance policy before entering Cuba. You will be required to produce the policy during Customs. There are many companies offering these services at competitive prices. Should you arrive without insurance, you will be required to contract one with Asistur, Cuba’s official insurance company.
