Cafetal Buenavista is located 1.5 kilometres from Puerta de las Delicias, within the environmentally sustainable tourist centre in Las Terrazas, in Artemisa, Cuba. This are the restored ruins of what used to be the first coffee plantation of Cuba, built in 1801 by several French refugees from Haití.
It’s worth noting the vast “tajona,” the stone mill used to extract the coffee grains from its cases. Here, you can also visit the quarters where slaves used to be kept.
Nowadays, no more coffee is planted, but rather tourists. What used to be the attic is now a restaurant with great views over the city.
