The Monument to Máximo Gómez, made by the Italian Aldo Gamba in 1935, is located in Centro Habana, in front of the renowned Malecón, in a pass-by island in front of the entrance of the harbor of Havana.
It is a group of sculptures dedicated to General Máximo Gómez, independent Cuban army chief considered a Dominican Republic war hero who fought in a constant and disinterested way for the independence of Cuba in the conflicts of 1868 and 1895 against the Spanish.
In the statue Máximo Gómez is represented standing on a pedestal, riding his horse, dressed wearing his battle uniform, with a saber on the belt and a hat on his right hand. Máximo Gómez is located beholding the horizon, looking towards the sea in a heroic way.
