Founded in 1643, the municipality of Morón, is known as the city of the rooster due to a verse about that animal, who went on singing after being plucked. It is located in the north of the province of Ciego de Ávila, surrounded by lush vegetation and wonderful beaches, and despite its location it is an important transports node. Moreover, its Cayería (group of Cays) is located in one of the most relevant tourist areas.
At the entrance to the city is located its symbol, a bronze monument of the Rooster of Morón, by the artist Rita Longa in 1982. Another attractive site are La Trocha Ruins, an area of 50 kilometers with small forts spread on it, creating a defensive line. It was built by Spanish to stop the advance of General Máximo Gómez troops during the Independence War.
We can also visit the elegant Train Station or the wonderful views over the city from the roof of the Archeology and History Museum.
