Cubanacán is a town in the municipality of Playa, west of the province of Havana, Cuba.
Originally, this was a middle-class area and now many intellectuals and artists live here, as well as representatives of the working class.
Cubacán is the seat of most businesses gatherings and scientific conferences in Havana. Evidence of this would be the Convention Palace, one of the most spectacular modern buildings in Cuba, built for the Conference for the Non-Aligned Movement of countries in 1979; and Pabexpo, a 20,000-square-meter space for exhibitions, formed by four interconnected pavilions where more than 15 fairs are held every year. Besides that, many specialist consultant doctors also work here.
One of the most renowned areas of Cubacán is the Instituto Superior de Arte (High Art Institution), which is the baseline academy of art in Cuba. The town also houses Isla del Coco Theme Park, featuring Ferris wheels, bumper cars, rollercoasters, and much more.
How to get here:
The best way to get to the Playa municipality from Havana is by the Havana Bus Tour. The ticket costs around 5 CUC cents, that are put into a small slot in front of the driver upon entering the bus. This buses pass through the most captivating neighborhoods until they reach Hemingway’s Marina.
Should you depart from Old Havana or Central Havana, you need to transfer at Plaza de la Revolución Square.
