The modest Iglesia de San Fulgencio Church, belonging to the Village of Gibara, is located after the statue of Liberty which leads the Calixto García Park.
On its origins it was a little wooden and brick shrine which was the second church of the city of GIbara. Founded in 1820, it had been becoming worse bit by bit until in 1850 Victoriana de Ávila, born in a wealthy family from Holguín and wife of one of the richest men in town, decided to pay for its restoration. Once finished in 1853, Victoriana de Ávila gave it to the Village and since then it is maintained as it was designed.
With Neoclassical style, on its inside you will have the chance to admire the Neo-Gothic major altar, separated from the central nave by a cupola made of frescoes with Gospel thematic.
Do not hesitate in visiting the nineteenth-century Iglesia de San Fulgencio Church on your visit to Gibara.
