The Faro Colón Lighthouse was installed in 1847 in the Punta de Maternillos Headland of Camagüey, a point from which it had dominion over the Former Canal de Bahamas. It is one of the oldest lighthouses that still work in Cuba.
In its nearby and shallow waters, divers can enjoy the views of two treasures, a couple of Spanish ships that sank during the colonial time, Nuestra Señora de Alta Gracia and the Pizarro.
