The Museo Casa Natal Ignacio Agramonte (Ignacio Agramonte Birthplace Museum) is the most important historical house in the region. It is located in the urban center of Camagüey, in front of the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Merced Church, at the corner of Independence Street. The house is a lovely colonial building with great architectonic value. It dates back from the middle of the 18th century and includes aspects of traces of Hispanic, mudejar and Baroque style, in addition to having neoclassical and rococo influences.
Ignacio de Agramonte (1841-1873) was a hero of the independency. He was a farmer who guided the revolt against Spain in this area and was killed while fighting the Spaniards in Camagüey when he was only 32.
It describes the little known roles of Camagüey and Agramonte in the First War of the Independency. However, it wasn’t its only goal, but it offers cultural tradition, related activities with the Music Center or the Scenic Arts Council, Cuban music artists promotions, activities for children and many other things.
