If you are visiting the town of Viñales, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit the Jardín de la Caridad (Charity Gardens), where you can see tropical varieties of typical and not so typical flowers and trees of the area. With luck, you will be able to see some occasional visitors, such as hummingbirds, parrots or other birds of the region. You will discover the eternal spring, surrounded by plants with very different values (ornamental, medicinal...).
The garden is found upon exiting Viñales, in front of the Servi-Cupet gas station. To get there, just go down the main street and turn north.
Construction of the Garden started at the beginning of the previous century by a couple who planted a wide range of trees from different parts of the country, such as the Cork Palm, and was declared Natural National Monument in 1988. Among the vegetation you can see ornaments, especially heads of plastic dolls.
The garden continues to be preserved by the founders' descendents. They, or a friend of the family, show visitors around the park.
There is the possibility of visiting it during daytime as well as at night, which gives the experience a new flavor. This lasts between 60 and 90 minutes and at the end, sometimes, you will be able to taste some of the splendid fruits of this garden.
