The Museo de Ciencias Naturales Sandalio de Noda (Sandalio de Noda Natural Science Museum) is located in the Palacio de Guasch. This is the most monumental architectural piece in the city, declared a National Monument for being a symbol for the people of Pinar del Río, Cuba.
The palace is a blend of architectural styles, Neo-gothic and Moorish, and was built by Doctor Francisco Guasch Ferrer between 1909 and 1914 and is an architectural symbol of the city.
The museum contains various exhibition rooms where there are important examples of the fauna found in Pinar del Río, including samples from other latitudes.
Some of its most emblematic pieces are: a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex sculpture made of cement, a specimen of the bee hummingbird, the smallest bird in the world, a stuffed white crocodile and collections of mollusks and polymitas (Cuban snails).
