The Teatro José Jacinto Milanés (José Jacinto Milanés Theater), or simply the Milanés Theater, is one of the most attractive theaters in Cuba; it has wonderful acoustics and is considered as one of the principal symbols of Pinar del Río.
Originally, this building was called Teatro Lope de Vega (Lope de Vega Theater), in homage to the author of Fuenteovejuna and it would not be until 1898 when its name would change to its current one, in honor of the Cuban poet José Jacinto Milanés, born in the province of Matanzas, Cuba.
It's a beautiful wooden theater with 540 seats dates from 1845 and a construction date of 1838 ,makes it one of the oldest theaters in Latin America. It has had different renovations that have resulted in this architectural delight of white and yellow colors. Its eclectic style with neoclassical predominance leaves its admirers amazed, displaying the aristocratic elegance of the city's past. It is a three-story building, with the facade, made up of five arches on pillars with attached columns, is striking. It also has a typical Sevillian patio with a stage for a café-concert with a capacity for 120 people.
