The San Rosendo Cathedral is an austere, little-visited temple, but that doesn’t make it any less enticing.
This cathedral, built in the 19th century, is located four blocks southeast of the Francisco Donatien Tobacco Factory in Pinar del Río, Cuba.
This building has three naves, two lateral and one central, being this last one wider than the rest. It is an eclectic temple in the sense that it has a mixture of styles; the façade is purely neoclassical, both for its proportions and for its functional elements, but it also has architectural baroque style elements.
On its façade there are images of St Peter and St Paul, made from stone and brought from Spain, and an image of the sacred heart in the garden at its entrance.
Inside you’ll find paintings of the Christ of Pinar del Río, San Rosendo, San José, Our Lady of Charity and Our Lady of Sorrows.
