This botanic garden was opened on the 22nd November 1981, at first with scientific aim, but it did not last until the tourists and natives began to be curious about it, and is currently visited due to cultural interest or, simply, because it is an attractive place to walk.
The Cupaynicú Botanic Garden, which adopted the name of a nearby river, is located in a green area in the surroundings of Bayamo. It is located 16km far from it, then it is recommendable to take the bus towards Guise, and soon you will see on your right this beautiful place.
This garden counts with specialized guides which will enlighten your visit with their explanations about the different species of plants hosted in this habitat, reforested recently and which belonged to a former farming ranch.
In this surroundings grow up plenty of different plants, from the medicinal use ones to the purely ornamental, autochthonous and foreigns, fruit and dessert.
You can also find rare species of endangered plants which are preserved in this natural reservation, which mainly is a protected area which hosts centenary trees and in which inhabit some types of wild fauna.
