The Iglesia Parroquial de la Purísima Concepción Church is located in the same place than the renowned Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Park.

Built around 1834, it was enlarged in 1920 and preserved that way until 2009, when it was demolished. The gorgeous at the entrance was added later, allowing the beautiful architectonic complex to match with its neighboring constructions in 19th century style.

It has a facade with a Neoclassical arcade; the towers in both sides of the main facade are made in four levels, providing more slimness to the construction.

With de 8.4 km², on its interior you’ll observe how are mixed Neoclassical, Gothic and Baroque styles, creating a temple where elements do perfectly go together.

The Purísima Concepción Virgin, also known as Virgin of the Fight, is the patron saint of Manzanillo since 1819, when the citizens defeated those pirates trying to attack the city. They saw victory as a miracle, so each 8th December they celebrate it.

From its beginnings, the beautiful temple was erected as the main church in the City, what nowadays makes it looking even better. A curious detail is that in this church worked Carlos Manuel de Céspedes as a lawyer.

Visit the imposing Iglesia parroquial de Manzanillo Church and enjoy other attractions located close to it, like the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Central Park, the Desembarco del Granma Park or the Playa Marea del Portillo Beach, among others.
