The Guamuhaya Archeology Museum is set up in the Casa Padrón House, an eighteenth century building, with a great architectural beauty. The Casa Padrón House was used by Hernán Cortés as residence before he departed to conquest Mexico.
The name Guamuhaya comes from the name given by the indigenous to the range where the city of Trinidad is settled.
The Casa Padrón House became a museum in 1975 and is specialized in the age of pre-Historic Cuba, from the pre-Columbian times to the conquest.
The museum has 8 rooms exhibiting chronologically objects belonging to the aboriginals settles in the South-Center region of Cuba. The sample includes human bone remains, texts and illustrations which comment the comprehension of the objects.
