This museum, opened in May 1981, is set up in a mansion built for the captain Don Pedro de Castañeda de Rojas, who was one of the Espirituanos who refused to swear loyalty to the English invaders. in 1762.
The museum accumulates pieces of the indigenous culture, the Spanish colonization the African slavery. Furthermore. it has decorative arts fund about the Independence Wars, the Republic and the Numismatics. This collections are organized in 12 sections which go from history, documents or architecture to weapons, paintings and furniture.
