The old Xanadú Mansion dates back to 1928, when the North American millionaire of French origin, Irenée du Pont, decided to establish his temporary residence in a beach area in Varadero, Cuba.
Erected in the Peña de San Bernardino Crag, beside the sea, the building was built from a combination of precious woods and Florentine marble. Du Pont did not follow the common designs of Cuban buildings of that time, rather he favoured eclecticism and chose an essentially marine ornamentation.
Currently a hotel restaurant, it has three squares and three terraces. One of them was fit out to build a bar, due to the views you can see from it, and which instil in ist clients the desire to go and have a drink in the final hours of the afternoon.
The Xanadú Mansion is strategically built beside the famous golf field of Varadero, where many international and fascinating competitions take place for the golf fans.
