The Museo de Angroindustria Azucarera Marcelo Salado (Marcelo Salado Sugar Industry Museum) is located 3 kilometers far from the Cangrejo Statue of Caibarién. Its most attractive characteristic is that it is located in the former regional sugar mill.
Its collection includes from a video about the history of Cuba’s sugar industry, to scale models of people working at picking up the material and lots of original machines. It is possible to think that machinery was used during the Industrial Revolution, but it was the one used in Cuba until Fidel Castro took drastic measures concerning the industry in the 90s.
Moreover, the museum has an extension known as the “Museo del Vapor" (Steam Engine Museum), which has accumulated a group of locomotives and the largest steam engine in Latin America.
