Located near Parque Vidal, the Museo de Artes Decorativas (Museum of Decorative Arts) is a mandatory stop if you visit Santa Clara and want to learn more about Cuba's fascinating historical and cultural heritage. This is the second most important museum of this style in all Cuba after the museum in Havana.
This exhibition is inside a beautiful mansion of Santa Clara of colonial neoclassic style. Its facade, made up of an elegant porch raised on arcades and Ionic columns, is a real eye-catcher. In the interior there are relics that cover from the 17th to the 20th century, a set of decorative elements such as paintings, sculptures or tapestries; also furniture, clothing of the time or architectural elements. When viewing this immense collection distributed in ten exhibition rooms, visitors will get an idea of the prosperity that Cuba enjoyed in the past. There is also a room reserved for temporary exhibitions and another for cultural activities.
In this little palace, time has seemed to stand still. Walking through its walls, we can see the old wealthy class “santaclareños” enjoying their daily life. Enjoy watching every detail and admire their most precious collections such as fans, porcelain or lamps, among others.
