With around 800 Km2, the Parque Baconao (Baconao Park) was declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It has 1,800 species of endemic flora, as well as many classes of bats and spiders threatened with extinction.
Take advantage the opportunities in this park to enjoy nature, as well as all the activities it offers, such as diving or rodeos, and several museums and cultural activities. Explore La Gran Piedra and the vicinity of the Cafetal La Isabelica; and go all over the Botanic Garden, the Prado de las Esculturas and the Prehistory Valley among many other interesting spots.
Enjoy fishing and diving on its 73 diving areas, among which are the remains of the Guarico, a small shipwreck to the south of Playa Sigua Beach. Spend a relaxing day in any of the beaches of its coast. There are many to choose, standing out Playa Baconao and Playa Cazonal Beaches, to enjoy them with your family.
Get works of art painted by native artists in El Oasis or in the Verraco Artistic Community. If you are really interested in indigenous art, you can visit the Mesoamerican Exhibition.
Wait for the arrival of the green hummingbird while you admire the 200 varieties of cactus in the Cactus Garden, or if you prefer more action, you can do horseback riding in Fiesta Guajira, Finca La Porvenir Ranch and the Baconao Lagoon.
If you prefer aquatic show, you can stop in the Baconao Aquarium and see the dolphin show offered twice per day.
