Visit the Rum Museum and find out all the aspects surrounding the sugar industry and the collection of the spirit from there. In the museum, you will travel through the history of the Cuban rum in a stroll along the halls. Let yourself be led to know all the secrets of the well-known traditional spirit of the Caribbean country.
The museum is housed in a building where two well-known personalities lived before. The first one was Kindelán Muzo, one of the governors of the city in 1889 who built the house as his own residence. Later, Mariano Gómez, the treasurer of the former beverage and spirits company Bacardí, lived as well in the house where currently is the museum.
The two floors building shows a mixture between Eclectic and Neoclassical styles, and includes an ample corridor and a beautiful garden. The set is completed with six halls that keep the different collections. See all the process from the sugar cane in the first room, the manufacture of rum, the bottle collection, the Tonelería on the patio and the process of bottling until the room number six where you can see models of factories and the development of the industry until now. This museum offers us an enlightening visit about the spirit.
Besides the objects related to rum, you will find some interesting pieces typical of the house as a residence, for example, chandeliers and crockery cabinets.
