Discover this emblematic place at the entrance of the Tívoli, the Escalinata Padre Pico Stairway is located in the Loma de Corbacho Hill and was built in 1899 by the command of the Major Emilio Bacardí, quite rightly since it has become a must visit place for tourists.
With 52 steps, grouped in 13 blocks of 3 steps each and 12 landings, this highway leads you to one of the most visited neighbourhoods in the city. The street has witnessed many historic events such as the funeral parlour of Carlos Miguel Céspedes in the intersection of the Padre Pico and Santa Rita Streets , or the death of the revolutionary Antonio Alomá on the 30th November 1956.
Go all over this imposing slice of history and go up every step being aware of the importance of the stairway in the life and traditions of the people of the city of Santiago de Cuba. Furthermore, you can visit the Clandestine Fight Museum (Museo de Lucha Clandestina) on the corner of the Santa Rita Street.
