Behind an imposing Greek style facade, the Municipal Museum Emilio Bacardí Moreau shows a varied and bizarre collection of compiled objects during the journeys that the writer made around the world.
You will see such different objects as a collection of firearms, Spanish paintings from Spanish costumbrism, and the only Egyptian mummy in the island. The museum was founded in 1899, but the building wasn’t constructed until 1922. It counts on three exhibition halls that coincide with the three floors of the construction.
The ground floor corresponds to the Archeology Hall where you can see objects that belonged to Mesoamerican and Pre Columbian cultures, along with other interesting objects like two Peruvian and an Egyptian mummies, and other pieces of historical interest.
On the first floor, the exhibition counts on objects related to the period from the colonization until the Republic. This hall is known as the History Hall.
Finally, the second floor houses the Art Hall and offers you the opportunity to see great pieces of national and international artists as a part of the patrimony of the city.
