Created by French emigrants from Haiti, there are more than 60 coffee plantations in the area, standing out the famous Cafetal La Isabelica, 2 kilometers besides La Gran Piedra. It was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.
Visit the Cafetal La Isabelica, around 1150 meters above the sea level, and admire its vast coffee drying spot, as well as the amazing two-floors mansions in stone from the 19th century currently museum. In here you’ll find a workshop, ancient furniture and several items related to the slaves from the plantation.
Admire the sundial, the bakery, and many interesting objects related to coffee plantations in the exterior and ground floor of the mansion, while the top floor is a copy of an original house.
Go on walking trips through the lands covered by pines, and visit other coffee plantation leaving from La Isabelica, with the chance to pay for a farmer as a guide.
