Inaugurated in 1983, El Carnaval Museum was created with the intention of keeping the traditions and memories of the carnivals of Santiago de Cuba.
The museum is divided in three different matters: Carnival during the Colony, in the Interfered Republic and the Revolution. You will see many objects that will tell you the history of the Carnival over the course of centuries through the halls of the museum.
See the models of the carriages exhibited in the museum along with trophies, banners, clothes, cloaks and decorations. Furthermore, you can see a collection of music instruments used by the bands that play in the festivities. Watch, among others, the French tomb, the Cabildo Carabalí or the conga typical from Santiago de Cuba, and go out onto the beautiful patio where local and national folkloric traditions are recreated.
