The Museo de Naipes Marqués de Prado Ameno (Marqués de Prado Ameno Cards Museum) is located on the ground floor of the oldest building in Plaza Vieja Square, Havana. The museum shows different decks of cards used for games, exhibiting them as cultural elements that are useful for talking about the history, art, or traditions of each community.
This museum has a collection of more than 2,000 cards, as well as postcards, prints, or cinema posters relating to cards, among others. There is also a noteworthy 19th century collection of postcards and cards with caricatures of Hollywood stars and historical figures.
It is also a remarkable collection of playing cards from Russian and Japanese craftsmen who teach Spanish customs.
With a recreational and educational character, this museum develops social activities, lectures, training, technical advice, exhibitions and the sale of unique playing cards. It offers a wide range of programming and entertainment that also includes magic shows, a total delight if you travel with children or as a couple.
