The Casa Oswaldo Guayasamín Museum is located in the former abode of Oswaldo Guayasamín, an 18th century house restored by the Ecuadorian artist himself and with the help of the Havana Historian's Office.
The museum has three rooms with permanent exhibitions to commemorate the memory of this well-known artist, who also produced several paintings of Fidel Castro. Inside, there are also various objects belonging to the painter on display, a well as several works donated to the Cuban nation, various Latin American pieces of art, and 19th century objects.
On the top floor of the house there is a room with temporary exhibitions by Cuban and foreign artists, conferences and video displays about the life and work of the Ecuadorian painter.
Currently the house is very well conserved and looks just as it did in the 18th century. It has a square floor plan, a lookout tower and decorations and details that reflect what was once the splendour of the Cuban Baroque.
